Where to Buy Cheap Flower Pots

When you’re a crazy plant mom, you have to buy a lot of flower pots. Obviously, we can’t be out here spending a fortune when it comes to flower pots because the plants and their care costs enough. I get asked a lot where I find my plethora of flower pots, so I curated a list. There are several places where you can buy cheap flower pots; here’s my top locations:

  1. Dollar stores: You can find a variety of inexpensive flower pots at your Dollar General or Dollar Tree.

Tip: Don’t be afraid to spray paint pots that are cheap, but aren’t your aesthetic, plastic or otherwise!

  2. Thrift stores: Thanks to an IG friend, I’ve recently taken to thrift stores for certain needs and flower pots is one of them. There is usually a few second-hand flower pots to pick from that are STUPID CHEAP. Again, don’t be afraid to paint it if you hate the color.

    Spray paint is an option.

  3. Garage sales: You can also find ridiculously cheap flower pots (good ones!) at garage sales or yard sales. And ummm… it’s almost garage sale season!

  4. Online marketplaces: if you need something specific, look on Facebook Marketplace. There’s all kinds of stuff on there so it’s always worth a quick look. You never know.

  5. Discount stores: Discount stores like TJ Maxx, Home Goods, Marshalls, and Ross offer a variety of affordable flower pots. Don’t forget Walmart, Target, etc.!

Tip: These may not have holes in them, but it’s super easy to drill holes in your pots. Follow this guide.

  6. DIY: I’m not a big DIY’er so hear me out. You can make your own flower pots by simply repurposing home supply materials such as plastic or metal coffee containers, glass jars or metal cans, or buckets, wheelbarrows, and more.

Keep in mind that there’s always a chance the quality of discount flower pots may sub-par because of imperfections (hence while some of them are marked down), so be sure to check for cracks or other problems before buying. Again, don’t be afraid to paint your pots! I get this paint to paint with my kids, who love painting pots with me! We get these little pots all the time to paint and grow seedlings in.
