Spicy Garlic Red Sauce
Everyone needs a spicy, saucy little red sauce in their kitchen toolbox and this one is mine.
Spicy Garlic Red Sauce

A classic spicy red sauce to have in your recipe toolbox
Ingredients
- ⅓ C. Olive oil
- 3 T. balsamic vinegar
- 5 garlic cloves
- 1 shallot
- ¼ C. tomato paste
- 1 T. red pepper flakes (more or less depending on heat preference)
- 1 T. herbs de Provence
- 1 lg can San Marzano tomatoes
- 1 lg can crushed tomatoes
- 2 tsp. flaky sea salt
- Cracked pepper
- Freshly shaved Parmesan, to top bowls
Instructions
- Add olive oil to a pan over medium heat. Add minced garlic and shallot. Don’t fry your garlic! Stir and cook until fragrant. 3-5 minutes.
- Add tomato paste and red pepper flakes, stir and cook for one minute.
- Deglaze with balsamic vinegar, stir.
- Add all of the tomatoes and herbs, salt and pepper. Bring to a boil and then reduce simmer for 10 to 15 minutes.
- Turn off heat, use an immersion to blend if you want.
- Top freshly cooked pasta with large spoonful's of sauce. Top with freshly grated Parmesan.
