The perfect grilled cheese oozing with cheese and happiness.
Ingredients
- 4 slices sourdough bread
- 1 stick salted good quality butter, preferably European
- 2-3 layers of 2/3 different types of cheeses, shredded or thinly sliced: cheddar, white cheddar, swiss, gruyere, Havarti, mozzarella
Instructions
- Heat a skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Reduce heat to medium once pan is very hot.
- Butter one side of each slice of bread and add to heated pan, butter side down.
- Add a layer of shallot aioli, or any other condiment, to one piece of bread after laying the bread butter side down. Layer with cheese.
- Watch the bread but don't flip until the cheese has started to melt and the bread is browned to your liking, 5-7 minutes on the first side and 4-5 minutes on the second.
