Bailie’s Top 5: Summer

Hi, how are ya? Doing my best Jeffree Starr on this rainy Saturday morning. Kind of fitting for this week’s Top 5 Theme.

It’s been a couple of weeks since I posted my first “Bailie’s Top 5” – Random Pantry Edition and now it’s time for Part 2. I got a few messages saying you guys picked up some of my favorites which makes my heart, and stomach, very happy.

This week, we are going to talk about ALL of my favorite summer skincare items, so you’re probably going to get a few more than 5 recommendations, but who cares. Come summertime, I try to make my kids spend as much time as possible outside, which means by June we have all gotten an (over)abundance of hot Kansas sun on our skin.

1. Sunblock

Obviously, no summer skincare list can be complete without sunblock. I’ve been on the Sun Bum train since last year and I don’t plan on hopping off. Their ingredients are vegan & cruelty-free and they all smell amazing. From sunscreen lotion, sunscreen spray, post-sun aloe, tanning oil, face sticks for the kids, they have all the sunny products you need for the summer. In my opinion, it’s worth spending an extra couple of dollars for quality products that you are rubbing into your skin 75 times a day in the scorching heat.

2. Face

I don’t know about your guys, but the build-up from all the face sunblock and makeup melting in the sun is REAL. The clogged pores and blackheads are not a good look. Last summer during a facial, my girl told me to get a good exfoliant so, that’s what I did. I’ve been using this Kiehl’s Deep Pore Cleanser daily all summer and it’s AMAZING! Kiehl’s is an amazing skincare line with quality ingredients, it’s a luxury brand at an affordable price.

Get this MUST HAVE cleanser at Ulta for $25, or get it from Prime in 2 days here. While you’re at it, grab this exfoliating glove to give your skin another deep clean. You will not regret this $9 purchase and neither will your baby soft skin.

3. Body

THIS IS MY FAVORITE LOTION. This is the one. I’ve used Hempz brand for years as it’s salon quality and my mom always had it on hand. But, this lotion? I want to make a smoothie that tastes like this lotion smells. Fresh Coconut & Watermelon, I’m a fiend for it. I never let myself run out. I have a big bottle at home and a big bottle at the lake, that’s how much I love it. I have a travel size to take everywhere with me. It is just simply, the best. Your skin and nose will thank you for it.

4. Full Body

If you follow my blog on Facebook, you’ve probably seen me rave about Kopari and all of their products. This extremely clean brand made from a base of coconut oil can be found in abundance in my bathroom cabinets. My favorite products are the tropical body melt, exfoliating body scrub, coconut body milk, and the lippy’s. Read above for how important it is to be exfoliating right now!

5. BODY

On the same line of all the exfoliating I’ve been talking about, a dry brush is an absolute MUST when it comes to summer skincare. I’ve been considering doing a little video to show you guys how to use these and I’ve talked about it on the Podcast too (listen here). Not only does using this brush on your skin help rid the top layer of dead skin on your body, it also helps push all the excess fluid (lymph) floating around your body to your lymph nodes, draining your system of toxic buildup.

This is my favorite brush on Amazon Prime, the long stick is removable, and it’s only $13.
