Cabo San Lucas

I have to be honest, this trip was last minute. We had flights booked to NYC for our 8th Anniversary trip, but I just wasn’t feeling it. We spent a couple days looking into resorts in the Caribbean and I checked out some all-inclusive in the Cancun area I had been eyeing. With about a month to plan, a lot of things were booked.

After a couple days of searching and pondering, Jacob text me and said “I have an idea, what about Cabo?.....” At that point, I knew he was thinking the One & Only, because I too, had looked it up the night before. Knowing Jacob, I didn’t think he would bite, but look up him coming up with the idea all on his own.

The One & Only Palmilla is a luxury resort on the Baja Peninsula of Cabo San Lucas with awe-inspiring views where the coastline meets the azure sea featuring hot pink and orange sunrises from your bedroom patio.

Getting to Cabo & One & Only Palmilla

From the Midwest, there are always connecting flights in Dallas and Houston going to Cabo and Cancun several times a day. You will fly into Los Cabos International Airport (SJD) and catch a ride to your accommodations.

The One & Only offers a shuttle for a fee or you can book your own private transfer through my link here.

Though the drive into downtown Cabo takes a bit longer, you will be at One & Only Palmilla about 20 minutes after leaving the airport.

Take in the views, rocky Cabo san Lucas is sure to be much different than the rest of the smooth, flat Mexican beaches you’re used to.

The Resort

The drive into the property is epically gorgeous. Plush greenery lines the roads leading to main building, but not before taking in the white chapel high on the point that overlooks the hotel. Upon arrival you’re greeted by a concierge who walks you through the incredible entry down to high-end shop lined building that houses the front-desk. A snack and souvenir shop adjacent to the chic check-in room frame the entry to the pool.

Poolside restaurants, fat cactuses, the sound of the sea crashing into the land, the hot September sun. This is what dreams are made of. The rooms offer everything from lavish junior suites with walkout patios to casitas with their own private, infinity pools to entire villas to rent for the ultimate getaway.

To Eat

Breeze is the poolside restaurant serving al fresco eats all day while you watch the waves crash into the rocks. Taco in one hand, margarita in the other – life can’t get much better.

Seared by One&Only is the hotel’s Steakhouse ran by Michelin-star Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten. Seared features locally caught seafood and showcases and extensive wine list. The views from inside, once again, incredible.

At Suviche, you’ll find the hotel’s modern Japanese menu with sushi, sashimi, ceviche and sake.

Agua & Agua Bar are a short walk down from the main building and pool where you will find yourself throughout the day starting with chilaquiles for breakfast and cocktails for sunset. Be sure to catch the live music in the evenings.

Pelican Beach Grill offers refreshments & light eats brought to your table or lounge chair on the properties exclusive beach.

One&Only Lounge overlooks the pool and sea with floor to ceiling windows and an longlist of cocktails that’s sure to end your evening in Cabo just perfectly.

Far off the property, way off the beaten path, lies the well-known Flora Farms. A farm to table restaurant that sits on the very farm where it gets it produce. With seasonal menu’s, you can visit Flora’s Field Kitchen, The Farm Bar, Flora Farms Grocery, and stroll the shoppes! There is a spa as well, should you decide you want to get pampered.

Downtown Cabo: Bars, Restaurants & Things to Do

You don’t want to miss out on the colorful streets of downtown Cabo! With popular chain restaurants and corner mojito stands, you’re going to find somewhere to grab a drink to keep you cool.

Milky Beach offers one of the only spots in Cabo where you can enjoy the ocean water, but be warned that this is a BUSY, happening spot for party goers.

The Office is a popular restaurant and bar sitting on beachfront property next to busy Milky Beach.

Edith’s, right up the hill from Milky Beach, is a finer-dining restaurant serving local authentic favorites and epic tableside Bananas Foster. 10/10 Do Recommend.

Be sure to check out The Giggling Marlin, El Squid Roe, Senor Frogs, and Cabo Wabo for some Mexican club-style fun!

Cabo has a large indoor mall you can stroll through (and enjoy some A/C) before making it back side to the famous Cabo marina. Lined with more restaurants and bars, boats and sailboats fill the bustling marina where you can book excursions.

Mona Lisa Sunset / Jazz on the Rocks offers some of the most incredible views of the Cabo sunset & the Cabo arch! The food is just okay.
